The Mountain Garden
Приєднався 24 лип 2013
Welcome to The Mountain Garden. This channel is our hair-brained way of communicating all of our half-baked projects. Together we purchased just over eight acres in the Santa Cruz mountains, started building our own house and planting our gardens. We'll be talking plenty about plants, construction, chickens, coops, forestry, digging a basement and much, much more.
Off Grid Solar System Tour - 14.8kW Array
Here's a quick tour of our off-grid solar system with grid tie capability (we reconnect usually for 4-6 weeks during the darkest part of the winter.

Going Solar Episode 2 - Starting the Inverter Shed
Переглядів 1,4 тис.4 роки тому
The inverters will be housed in a shed in the middle of the property because it is half way between the well and the house, half way between the house and the solar array as well. So far progress is coming along as well as can be hoped. FB: TheMountainGarden
TMG Goes Solar! We're Doing A DIY Off-Grid Install!
Переглядів 1,9 тис.4 роки тому
We finally did it! We ordered 10.5 kw of solar panels, 20 kw of inverters and a 91 kWh battery bank. Over the summer we'll be installing everything to start "load shifting" our usage from on-peak to off-peak with PG&E, providing battery backup for everything in the house and then in a few months wiring up the 28 solar panels to try and get most of our usage totally off the grid. This should be ...
The Best Tool Ever! - Electric Wheelbarrow By Overland Carts
Переглядів 61 тис.4 роки тому
About 2 years ago we got tired of trying to push a heavy wheelbarrow up-hill, and tired of trying to control a heavy wheelbarrow downhill. After a great deal of research we ended up with an Overland Carts electric wheelbarrow which has served us faithfully for over 2 years. The biggest thing to know about it however is that it's not an ATV with a barrow on top, if that's what you need you may n...
EV Chainsaw Battle! Husqvarna vs DeWalt!
Переглядів 22 тис.4 роки тому
How does a "professional" chainsaw compare to a battery option from a power tool company like DeWalt? Let's find out! In this video we pit the Husqvarna 535i XP against the DeWalt DCCS670. Not a great pairing? Never fear, we'll have the 540i XP soon... FB: TheMountainGarden
Husqvarna 535i XP | My New Favorite Saw?
Переглядів 24 тис.4 роки тому
Husqvarna's latest battery chainsaw isn't the most powerful battery saw I've ever used, but the mission with the 535i XP wasn't to make a direct competitor to DeWalt's 60V saw (that's the upcoming 540i), instead they made an ultra-light saw that's weather resistant and has an optional battery backpack for the ultimate brush clearing saw. As Good As Gas? | DeWalt 16 inch 60V Cordless Chainsaw DCCS670
Переглядів 75 тис.4 роки тому
My 12 inch battery chainsaw has performed better than I ever thought it would, so clearly when DeWalt came out with a bigger 16-inch saw that uses their "flexvolt" 20 / 60 Volt batteries and promises more power and longer life. Let's see how it stacks up. FB: TheMountainGarden

What battery size comes with this machine
We at Pure Water For All Foundation have been working on this problem for decades
Great review thanks. Its so tough deciding to switch to battery tools after buying a leaf blower that only blew for 12 mins then needed a 4 hour charge. Extra batteries and quick charger just didnt seem worth the extra expence. Took it back and bought a 2 stroker. Old school me i guess
I'm not a fan of the tile, nor the river rock floor which someone thinks will never get slippery, but I've had that before, and it's extremely dangerous. I don't like the stabby water faucet handles, neither.
wait what??? didn't you review trucks and cars?
10:58 how does he know that? 😮
We need indoor traps 😢
I miss your videos.
ALEX ON AUTOS!!!!!!! I know that voice anywhere.
ALEX ON AUTOS!!!!!!! I know that voice anywhere.
Is there 12v battery charging adapter for these ones?
You have to let these mosquito traps (skeeter) run the propane 24-7 or else it won’t do the job correctly.
Theres NO WAY the sun melted the plastic on the Mosquo Magnet. Its more likely you bought a returned unit that was improperly or had a fault.
Love mine just want to know if I can change to a different chain cause this one is 11/64 and can't get a pferd sharpener that size.
Thanks for the review. Gas it is 😂
The cat, at the end, decided to turn the video into an "only fans" video. lol.
Gay
Mine is getting started tomorrow.
This smells like if you peed in your underwear and let it bake in your car for awhile LOL
These dudes about to make out after this video
You ain't lived until you stared into a cats asshole!!!! Im dying 😆😆😆
Can you explain the difference in hormone strength? I know that's as important as anything! Weak hormone won't work very well on hardwood from what I've read!? Happy Easter 🐰 sir!
I have a question concerning your system if you don’t mind…I had a 160 ft water well drilled and the water is terribly high in iron and manganese and coliform…I was thinking about a 250 gallon water storage tank to start the process since very little water is used…my question is…can I just use aeration at the top of the tank to turn the iron bacteria to a ferric state or do I have to use the ozone process? Once the ferrous iron and manganese turn ferric and sink to the bottum…I can then pump out the water from center of tank to then run thru filters and UV?
Hi, is there possibility to set oil consumption ? i found small knob under splitter extraction chamber. but i dont know if it is right it.
That backpack battery is wild. Great idea to get some weight off of your wrists
What happens when you Cut through the Battery Cable? Society is Regressing to retardation at an alarming rate.
wait, aren't you the car guy?
Inconclusive review......pronunciation of Stihl is wrong, doesnt know the difference between a chain CATHCHER and chain brake, and i suppose that chainsaw also has a blade instead of a bar........trustworthy review
Still a valid review. You, however, are a well defined ass.
Excellent video and presentation
Don’t be fooled, that backpack battery is insanely heavy.
Hey, I know this guy!!!
It would seem more appropriate to use a Utility vehicle like Polaris ranger with a dump bed for that terrain.
Your not going to be pruning with a 20''' chainsaw are you! The compact DCCS620B is a perfect size for delimbing and coppicing.
My wife and I are setting up off grid in Northern Nevada. We are setting up a SW4048 CL150... Solar array will be mounted on top of a High Cube Container and all equipment located inside (shortest runs possible). We were able to retrieve 2 48 volt Absolyte Telecomm battery banks for storage. We'll see how long they will operate and then purchase new battery banks later when we expand the system. Thanks for posting your video!
👍
I am sorry but where exactly in this three-part video series do actually teach anyone how to build a Roman tub? SMH
why did you not show the process?
Your saw handling leaves a little to be desired, constantly leaving yourself in position for a severe kickback, straighten your left arm out!
Ive used a 535i for 7 years now and its the first saw out of the truck when we arrive onsite. Yes you cannot drag it roughly out of a pinched limb but they are rugged. We pull trees from rivers[flood prevention] and its been swinmming a few times and still works fine. You can get a wrenchless thumb wheel chain tensioner from Husqy aftermarket. It’s sturdier than the single bolt system. Batteries can die after 4 or five years and chargers can drop dead too with no warning. They both hate being stored in sub zero temperatures but I’ve revived seemingly dead batteries by gently heating them to 90 F. Alway blow the battery and the saw through with a good airline. I spray WD40 on the guide bar every time i put it away but that mostly from working in water. It will cut underwater to 12” ! Kieran. UK
Do you work in Indiana man I need some Log jams cut out of some of the rivers here. I’m a kayaker and that’s really helpful.
😂 @ 12:12 Why???? lol 😂
Go to San Francisco where you girls belong
They're so aggressive about it lol. Just review the fucking traps.
Good review. But you have a BAD HABIT constantly touching putting your hands on the bar & chain. One of these days it's going to getcha !!!!
Trade secret. Its now time for a instant water heater. This thing will hold over 100 gallons easily.
Hi, I have a doubt, how are you connecting ozone to air pump?
Very well explained., thanks a lot
an exception to what he says about only two types of water softeners, replacing calcium with sodium or potassium, there are other options, such as what we've been using, Katalox Light media which is different, and does not require salt or potassium permanganate regen. backwash cycling. i really learned a lot from this video and his other one, so i ordered a Del Ozone 100 module from LoveYourHotTub, for our settling tank. i was planning to use a pool chlorinator, we have 25 ppm iron and bacteria from the well.
looks like that retro fit is now discontinued, so i ordered the newer modules that are in a set of three and look slightly different. BUT i just read the comment about how ambient air generates unhealthy nitrogen reactants, do you know if that's true? can u test this system to verify, please? also curious if u know, does output improve or performance remain consistent with the newer and discontinued Del modules?
Wow, a video that actually reviewed & compared products in detail. Thanks for the work that went into it, very informative
Haaaahahahahaa! I watched AlexOnAutos for years (then I bought a used 2015 Mazda 6). I just picked up a used DCCS670 over the weekend and am going through YT videos for tips and this one is suggested, and... It's my favorite car loving lawyer! Keep up the good work Alex. Stay awesome.
There's no way that battery saws will ever replace gas saws ,the battery goes down so fast that you would need 6 battery to finish a job !!!!!!
